The Clockwork Charitable Trust are delighted to announce that we have partnered with Oxted School to further develop the support available for young people at the school.

Over the last few years, Clockwork’s support has enabled the school to provide access to a counsellor 4 days a week, instead of the previous 3 days a week. However, with many students continuing to experience challenges related to their mental health, leading to a waiting list for in-school counselling developing, the school and Clockwork have been determined to not only maintain, but increase and develop the resources available to students.

Over the summer, we reaffirmed our commitment to support Oxted School in providing a counselling service for students, and we are delighted that this has enabled the school to now provide in-school counselling 5 days a week. In addition, the support available at the school will be developed and diversified. Previously, only one to one support was available, but the intention is now to also offer small group interventions, as well as training and support for staff, students and parents. By adopting this approach, the school intends to increase their prevention work and reduce the number of students requiring higher level support in the future.

“It was amazing to see all the great work being done at Oxted School to ensure the mental well being of young people”

Both Oxted School and Clockwork would like to acknowledge and thank the work of the Friends of Oxted School (FOXS) and those who have supported their fundraising activities.  The FOXS are continuing to raise funds to provide spaces that will help facilitate the work of the counsellors. They have enabled the Wellbeing Building to be transformed into a place where students needing help can feel safe and secure.

Oxted School are keen to encourage the involvement of parents throughout the year groups and would welcome any time that can be offered to support the fantastic work of this team of committed parents and staff.  If you think you can help in any capacity, please contact Claire Kent (claire.kent@oxted.thpt.org.uk)
